Cascades of fonts

Typefaces often do have their roots in older ones. Sometimes the diversion is clearly to be seen, like e.g. from the types at the Trajans Column in Rome to the renaissance typefaces and from that point to the modern photo typesetting variants. Til the actual day, there always come up new creations.

So the “Sabon” was designed on the base of this renaissance typefaces. “Trajan Regular” from Carol Twombly (picture in the middle) from 1989 is closer to the historical original than “Trajanus”, crafted by Warren Chappell in 1940.
